BIG FAMILY LOVE …
Family Photographer in Southampton
Can you believe it’s still January? The children going back to school so late has totally thrown me. I feel like Christmas was at least a month ago. But in really is only just over two weeks!
It seems a life time ago that I was contacted in November last year by Kathleen. She explained to me that they wanted to get some up to date photographs of the whole family together over Christmas. The photos were to include her parents, 4 siblings with respective husbands or wives with the addition of 3 babies aged 6 weeks, 3 months and 5 months. Yes, you read that right, 3 babies under 6 months!! They were keen to opt for Lifestyle photography rather than tradtionally posed images and I guess I am a little bias but I think that was a great idea :)
I was after out intial contact immediately excited by the prospect of working with the family. Some say I was mad, but I am all about pushing myself out of my comfort zone. That’s often when the magic happens.
On the day I did have to travel far from my home in Southampton, as the lived just over the bridge from me. I had an absolute blast on this photoshoot. They were just the most amazing family to work with. I don’t think I stopped laughing and smiling during the whole photography session. At one point they were all signing Happy Birthday at the top of their lungs. Not because it was anyone’s birthday, but it was to get all the babies attention to get that all important photo of the 3 babies together.
I am not going to lie despite the fun we had, it wasn’t the easiest session. There were lots of breastfeeding breaks, crying over-tired babies, and babies who just didn’t want to be put down. But that’s okay, that’s what babies do. I have had 3 of my own to know there is nothing you can do but go with the flow. We worked with the babies, swapping over when one had had enough. In the end we all decided to take them outside for some whole family photographs. We tried and failed miserably to include a few of the families chickens but they were too fast for us to catch!
I felt like I’d known them all for a lot longer than an hour. It was an absolute privilege to be able to capture some amazing memories for them.
Here’s a few of my favourites photographs from the photo shoot, it was so hard to pick just a few.
