People who know me well , will know that I am not usually lost for words. I think I can talk more than most. When I arrived at Laura and Scott’s home in Southampton, Hampshire last week I was totally speechless. I invited there to photograph their beautiful newborn daughter Amelie, and I was thrilled they chose me to capture them.
Anyway, I like to think I have style, and I like to think * some * of my home is tastefully decorated but my goodness I was stunned into silence at this incredible home.Laura and Scott have clearly worked so hard to create the most gorgeous home and it made the best backdrop to their newborn photoshoot. I really did feel like I’d hit the client jackpot with these guys.
There is a reason their home was so incredible. She's got the best eye for interiors. Laura’s currently on maternity leave from running her own vintage interiors shop in Winchester. If you like beautiful homes and you can see more photos of her gorgeous home and follow her at Dirty Pretty Vintage. I am going to be keeping an eye on when she decides to start back up. I will want to but so many things!
The session itself was great, despite Amelie being a little unsettled and wanting to only be held ( which is totally normal) Despite this, we managed to capture some truly beautiful moments. When life is tough in the newborn stage it’s always good to have these photos are memories of these hard times – because its easy to forget how challenging things were at the beginning. Mother Natures is quite good at that isn't she ;) We forget the birth, the sleep deprivation, and the endless feeding session just in time for us to do it all over again!
I understand how hard this time is and because of that my sessions will always be led by Mum and
Baby. What they need comes first. Whether thats, a feed, change or just to be held. Whilst photographing you all is my main objective I will always adapt each session to the needs of you and your family. Feeling relaxed is always key.
As always, thank you to you for trusting me to photograph this very special time. Having a newborn isn’t easy and welcoming me into your home is always an honour.
